2027 Medicare enrollment

A thoughtful start to your next coverage year.

Your life can change. So can your plan. A yearly review is a chance to check whether your coverage still fits.

YOUR 2027 ENROLLMENT GUIDE

Mark your calendar.

Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15 through December 7 each year. For 2027 coverage, that means reviewing and making eligible changes in the fall of 2026.

October 152026 · Annual enrollment opens
December 72026 · Annual enrollment closes
January 12027 · New coverage begins

Your plan must receive your enrollment request by December 7 for changes made during this period to take effect January 1.

Start with three things.

1. Your current plan’s changes

Read your Annual Notice of Change. Look for changes to premiums, deductibles, copays, covered drugs, and other benefits. Use the plan’s published 2027 materials when comparing coverage.

2. Your doctors and prescriptions

Make a list of your doctors, preferred hospitals, medications, and pharmacy. Check provider participation and drug coverage for the coming year, even if you are considering keeping your current plan.

3. Your overall costs

Look beyond the monthly premium. Consider how often you expect to use care, your prescription costs, and the plan’s rules for accessing services.

What can you change?

Depending on eligibility, annual enrollment lets you join, drop, or switch Medicare Advantage or Part D coverage, including changing between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage.

Medigap has separate rules. Annual enrollment does not create a general right to buy Medicare Supplement insurance without health questions. Before leaving existing coverage, check your eligibility, effective dates, and whether medical underwriting applies.
