Medicare

A little clarity can make a big difference.

New to Medicare? Reviewing your coverage? Let’s work through the choices, one conversation at a time.

START WITH WHAT MATTERS TO YOU

Your doctors.
Your prescriptions.
Your everyday life.

A useful Medicare conversation starts with your needs. Which doctors do you want to keep? What prescriptions do you take? How do you balance monthly premiums with costs when you receive care?

Stephanie helps you compare the plans she represents and understand their tradeoffs. Availability, networks, covered drugs, and costs depend on the plan and where you live.

Talk through your options
PART C

Medicare
Advantage

A private plan that provides your Part A and Part B benefits. Most include prescription drug coverage.

  • Review the provider network and referrals.
  • Compare copays and the annual limit on out-of-pocket costs for covered medical services.
  • You generally still pay your Part B premium.
MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT

Medigap

Coverage that works with Original Medicare to help pay certain costs, such as copayments and coinsurance.

  • Different standardized plans cover different costs.
  • Eligibility and application rules depend on when you apply and your circumstances.
  • Medigap does not work with Medicare Advantage.
PART D

Prescription
drug coverage

Coverage for prescription drugs through a separate drug plan or a Medicare Advantage plan that includes it.

  • Check your medications against the plan’s drug list.
  • Compare pharmacy costs and coverage requirements.
  • Review coverage each year as plans may change.

TIMING MATTERS

The right questions.
At the right time.

Turning 65, leaving employer coverage, or moving can all raise different Medicare questions. Your enrollment options depend on your situation.

GOOD QUESTIONS TO ASK

Know what
you’re choosing.

01Is a $0 premium plan free?

No. A $0 plan premium does not mean there are no costs. You generally still pay your Medicare Part B premium, and you may have deductibles, copayments, or coinsurance. Look at the full cost of coverage.

02Can I keep my doctor?

It depends on the coverage and the provider. For Medicare Advantage, check the plan’s network and confirm participation with both the plan and the doctor. Provider participation can change.

03Can I change plans whenever I want?

Medicare Advantage and Part D changes generally require an applicable enrollment period. Special Enrollment Periods may apply after certain life events. Medigap has different rules. Stephanie can help you understand which questions to check for your situation.

04Do you offer every Medicare plan?

No. Shawnee represents 20 organizations offering 50 products in your area. For information on all of your options, contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or your local State Health Insurance Program (SHIP).
